At Kootenia Luxury Homes & Remodeling, quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and cutting edge design are essential elements to our success. As a number of Kootenia Luxury Home projects get underway, we are already seeing the home trends shaping 2017. Here are a few you are likely to see in the coming year.
Quartz & Marble
Quartz and especially marble surfaces will be one of 2017’s biggest design trends. These increasingly popular materials will be everywhere from countertops to flooring, tabletops, and household items such as vases and serving platters. Try a white and gray marble countertop for a natural and clean yet glamorous look.
Taupe is the new Gray
While cool grays were a common go-to choice for homeowners and interior designers in 2016, the new trend will be more experimental in 2017. Many people are seeking a warmer neutral, opting for a palette of gray with beige-based colors for their kitchens and living rooms. In fact, paint manufacturer Scherwin-Williams just named “Poised Taupe” as its 2017 color of the year, stating, “Poised Taupe celebrates everything people love about cool gray as a neutral, and also brings in the warmth of a weathered, woodsy neutral and a sense of coziness and harmony that people seek.”
Stemming from 2016’s popular bar cart trend, homeowners in 2017 will look for more permanent solutions for entertaining in their home. From custom built-in shelving and countertops for cocktail fixings, to a bar seating area, homeowners are enjoying hosting more classic parties and are seeking ways to make these spaces a greater focal point within the home.
Modern or Farmhouse Kitchens
Both modern and farmhouse styled kitchens take center stage this year, with vein marble and wood accents set to be a key feature. We’re also about to see a movement toward open concept kitchens. As Houzz notes, 51% of new kitchens open to other rooms in the house, and 20% open to the outdoors.
Subway tiles continue to cement itself as one of the style elements of our generation. A classic and versatile choice, subway tile works with all home styles and price points and comes in a variety of colors, materials and finishes. Consider subway tiles for your kitchen backsplash or bathroom shower!
