“A well-designed house should make you happy whenever you see it. It simply feels good to have a polished home.” This is the philosophy of James Hardie, the material choice for Kootenia’s home exteriors. At Kootenia, we take product selection very seriously, and James Hardie delivers time and time again. From performance to ColorPlus technology, there are many benefits to building a Kootenia home with James Hardie Siding.

Performance

Siding is exposed to Mother Nature 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (especially in Minnesota). Factors like weather, sun exposure, water, fire, pests and simply time all affect your homes exterior. This is why James Hardie continually tests their products to better withstand natural disasters, UV rays, and snowstorms. Season changes do a fair amount of damage to vinyl and wood materials through cracking and expanding due to humidity, which is why James Hardie has engineered their products specifically for the climate. Through studying the impact weather has on siding, they created the HardieZone system. This system separates products by region, ensuring that you get the right product based on where you live. HZ5 products are made to withstand wet and freezing conditions, while HZ10 products protect homes from blistering sun and excessive heat.

Durability

James Hardie siding is manufactured using fiber cement, an invention the company created decades ago. This ultra durable material is specifically designed to endure damage caused by weather, moisture, and rot. This means your siding will last much longer than some of the other siding options out there, such as wood or vinyl. Wood based siding has a tendency to expand, buckle and crack when it’s continuously exposed to precipitation, while vinyl is prone to warping, cracking, and sagging over time. Furthermore, James Hardie siding is 5 times thicker than vinyl siding, and much more visually appealing.

It’s also non-combustible, and will not ignite when exposed directly to a flame. While wood based siding would just fuel a fire more, vinyl based siding would melt instantly. James Hardie siding is actually endorsed by firefighters nationwide, and since it’s non-combustible many insurance companies offer a discount.

ColorPlus Technology

With ColorPlus technology, your siding will last years longer than normal siding. That’s because James Hardie applies multiple coats to its siding and has a unique finishing process. In fact, they use 50% more than the average house paint. After each coat, they cure the finish in a controlled factory environment, ensuring consistent coverage. This baked on bond helps prevent chipping, peeling, and cracking. ColorPlus technology is engineered to resist fading due to UV ray exposure, keeping the color of your home vibrant for years.

Great Warranties

All James Hardie siding products come with a 30-year, non-prorated warranty and trim products come with a 15-year, non-prorated warranty.

These are just a handful of reasons Kootenia uses James Hardie on our homes exteriors. With Kootenia and James Hardie, you can rest easy knowing your home has beautiful, reliable siding.
