This week Kootenia is here to take a closer look into our fox modern project we completed. This home was a complete custom design focusing on modern design but with a feel of traditional comfort. In this home we can prove to you that you can have completely modern, yet it be comfortable. Modern with Kootenia can also be perfect for entertainment or family time. We are excited to share with you what Kootenia is capable of with modern design.
Exterior
Starting at the exterior you can see the sleek modern finishes from the off-white lap siding then switching to James Hardie Reveal panels in a dark gray. The cedar posts and stone also give it a nice modern touch. The last thing to notice with the exterior of the fox modern is the black Andersen windows that create a window wall going up the staircase.

Open Floor Plan
This is a must in any modern homes. Walking through the foyer you will stop and be able to see the back wall of six picture windows that will let in all the natural light that you will need. You will also notice that you have a clear view of the dining area, living room and kitchen. This layout is perfect for family time as well as entertainment. There are not any walls to hide you from your guests!
Fireplace
The fireplace is just one good picture of modern in this home. With clean sleek lines and no surround gives this fireplace a clean look. The black paint gives the fireplace a modern touch while also breaking up the white walls nicely.

Kitchen
Let us take a closer look at this kitchen! Who knew that this modern of a kitchen would even be possible? From the waterfall island to the unique wood grain lower level cabinets. Pairing it with the black uppers scream modern. Stainless steel finishes throughout with floating shelves. The last thing to take note of in this home is the pendants above the island. They almost look like they are filled with water. A beautiful addition to the functional modern kitchen.
Color
One thing you will notice with this house is the dark color specifically black. There’s black tile in the mudroom, black cabinets in the bathroom, black steel railing on the stairs, black doors, black upper cabinets in the kitchen, and lastly black around the fireplace. Although the black is nicely used to break up some of the white color it is also used to amplify the modern architecture throughout the home. If you are looking for a more modern home, try using the color black!
